By law (Section 59-1-425 of the South Carolina Code of Laws), districts are required to include at least three severe weather makeup days in each year’s academic school calendar.
According to the law, the district is to use those days to make up “all school days missed because of snow, extreme weather conditions, or other disruptions requiring schools to close.”
As you know, Lexington County School District One sets high expectations for every student. We provide the environment, instruction and support needed to ensure that our students learn, and, as part of that, we protect instructional time.
With that in mind, Lexington One will make up the Wednesday, January 29 snow day, on Friday, February 14, the district’s first designated severe weather makeup day of the 2013–2014 academic calendar.
Just for your information and, in case of more inclement weather, the other two severe weather makeup days on our calendar are Friday, March 14, and Monday, April 21.
